  • Welcome to the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication at K. C. College of Engineering & Management Studies & Research, Thane (E). The Electronics and Telecommunication (EXTC) [UG] course started in year 2001 and it’s been more than a decade that we have grown & nurture our expertise in the core of Electronics & Telecommunication curriculum. The department is well established and having well qualified and experienced staff members. We believe in providing high standards of education for the students. With the pace of today’s technology throughout the world the department offers excellent knowledge, state of the art facilities & resources in the form of well qualified faculties, constantly upgraded well equipped & fully furnished laboratories. The EXTC Department has 12 laboratories with advance instruments and adequate equipments. The department having professional’s chapters as IEEE student chapter, IETE-ISF & ISTE from many years.
  • Every year, we are organizing Industrial Visits, Expert Lectures, Entrepreneurship Training Programme, Training & Placements Activity, Technical Seminars cum Workshops and Technical Festivals (i.e. Robotics, Technical Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation, LAN Gaming, Hardware Design etc.) to upgrade knowledge of students and staff members. Department is also motivating our faculty and students for attend CEP, STTP, SDP, Workshops and Seminars at various Institutes and also motivate students to attend Internship program at various Industry. Also department motivate to faculty members for higher studies, project work, research work and write proposals. Every year, we are organizing farewell, alumni meet, tech-fest, sports and cultural functions. Students of our department are doing their project in house & also at various industries. Our students score very good RANK in University of Mumbai exams and no. of students placed in Govt. / Semi Govt ./ Public Sector / Multi-National Companies (MNC's). Also no. of students getting scholarships from Govt. & various Trusts. Department having very good co-ordination between students and staff members. Students also involve in various social activity.

On the occasion of 73rd Republic Day of India, IETE-ISF of KCCEMSR had organized an inter-collegiate PowerPoint presentation Competition under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

The speaker then introduced the judges for the competition Dr. Avishek Ray and Prof. Yogesh Karunakar and explained the rules to everyone. The participants were divided into two groups where the judges in each group evaluated them on the basis of their presentation skills, confidence, clarity and content. Twelve teams across different institutes have participated and gave captivating presentations. Each team was given 7 minutes to present their PPT’s on any one of the topics given and 1 minute for question-and-answer session. In each group IETE coordinator was present to keep a track of time of the presentation.

Prior to the announcement of the winners, the judges gave their comments and words of wisdom to the students so as to further improve their presentation skills. Out of all the participants top three winners were announced. The first winner won a prize of free IIRS Course/value added course and the runners-up were rewarded with the winning certificates. Everyone congratulated the winners for their achievements. In the end the event was concluded with the vote of thanks to all the participants, organizing team and the faculty members.

TECH TALKS WITH ALUMNI

  1. The IETE-ISF Team organized a TECH-TALK session with Alumni to share their experience and guidance in the outside world, which they faced after stepping out of the institution.
  2. The event started by the introductory part of Mr.Pritam Sahu who is a technical officer in INDIAN NAVY, He started the session by presenting a short motivating video of Indian Navy. Then Mr. Sahu explained us the various career spectrum for people of various interest starting from Music to Artillery.
  3.  The second session of Tech talks with alumni organized by IETE The session started with introducing our alumni speaker of this afternoon Mr. Raunak Salvi. He is currently pursuing MS in Electrical systems Engineering at the University of Paderborn, Germany . Today's session was about how to prepare for higher studies at abroad. At the beginning of this session he compares the difference between the education system of Germany and other countries and how German universities are focused in research oriented study unlike India and other countries. He explains the academic eligibility criteria for applying to German universities to study masters.

Guest Lecture on “Design of Microwave Sensor for Bio Medical Application using MIC technology”

The objective of Hackathon is to have Team building, Networking. Intense problem-solving which facilitate the creation of innovative ideas and concepts and Talent Acquisition where the students can go beyond their reach and see how much talent and concept is needed to make one project successful. Keeping this view in mind the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Engineering and Information Technology of K.C. College of Engineering & Management Studies & Research under the banner of IETE- SF, CSI & IIC Organised Orion Hack-2021 National level online Hackathon It was a 24 hours event that started at 11 A.M on 11-May-2021 and ended at 11 A.M on 12-May-2021. From all over India, the responses received total 22 teams registered for the event. The participants had enrolled from various states like Maharashtra Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Telangana making the Hackathon a success.

The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication organized a “Dr. Rajendra Prasad Birth Anniversary Celeberation” for all the students & faculties. The session started with the speech given by H.o.D Electronics & Telecommunication Dr. Baban U. Rindhe who has given insights of Dr. Rajendra Prasad. He has given brief biography of Dr. Rajendra Prasad & motivated all the students to follow the qualities of him & never gave up for anything. After this Principal Sir Dr. Vilas Nitnaware explained the importance of contribution of Dr. Rajendra Prasad by giving a short story. The event ended with vote of thanks.


Inauguration of VLSI Learning Centre

The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication organized a An Inauguration Program for VLSI Learning Centre for the students of SE, TE, BE EXTC . The expert was Dr. Sanjeev Keskar who is working as Managing Director India at Arrow Electronics a leading Electronic component global distribution company since June 2015.

The department took this initiative of beginning this learning Centre as our EXTC students needed more exposure for the core domain. Expert has motivated students for the field of VLSI Design & Semiconductor Technology by describing its various Challenges & Opportunities. Expert had given a brief idea about economical growth through electronics manufacturing in future. Expert explained how India needs high value ecosystem.

. Overall the students got a practical insight on how they can proceed with an application of VLSI and how one can make their own career in it

Mr Shankar Nair Director of Akademika Lab Solutions explained the whole demonstration on different antenna & its working along with various patterns of different readings. He gave an idea on how the old system works & how this system will be a boon to the students & to the college.

After explaining the entire concept of antenna, he explained about Optical fiber & its application related to the syllabus. He again gave a proper insight about various fibers with different reading & output.

The speaker for the day was Our special guest Dr Munir Sayyad who is presently working as Associate Vice President – Reliance Jio.

The session started with a speech by our HoD Dr Baban U Rindhe on IETE foundation day & shared the chairman’s speech for the same.

In his lecture he discussed & shared some insights on how telecommunication plays an important role in the industry & how fast this branch is achieving big new innovative projects under JIO. He encouraged the students to think beyond their limits & try their best to establish themselves once they are out of the college. He emphasized the importance of engineering & research for the developments of various application in telecom industry. He guided the students to be like Dr C.V Raman & how he never gave up on his work.

The students were introduced about various version of raspberry pi embedded board with its architecture. Various properties and implementation of the same were discussed. The students were able to understand the application of IoT through various examples. The workshop was as a domain for student’s career step and was also useful for the students in the new technology.

 With full enthusiasm IETE Student Forum (ISF) has been inaugurated at Department of Electronics and Telecommunication under the support of student on 24th August 2018. The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is India's leading standard professional society dedicated to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication & IT, founded in 1953. It is our pleasure to inaugurate the ISF at our college. The IETE Students' Forum of has been set up with around 80 student members belonging to SE to BE year, from EXTC department through the involvement of faculty members.

                     The major focus of IETE is to provide engineering education i.e. Degree and Diploma level certifications to younger generation at affordable cost. The purpose of ISF is to give a platform for the student members to exchange ideas by organizing/participating technical programs and activities. They would get the benefit for technical visits / practical training / project work in R&D laboratories/ industries that increases their spirit of self-reliance and professionalism.

   After the Inaugural address a Seminar on ‘Machine Learning’ was given by Dr J.H Nirmal through an interesting presentation. Based on his long experience in the field of his teaching career & its knowledge with the subject he made the guest lecture interesting & informative.

Yet another Seminar on “CISCO Networking” was given by Ms Rakhee Sonawane who illuminated the concept of networking from ancient age to modern era which was thought provoking and lucid but very informative. The lecture was a bridging gap between the academic & practical knowledge on networking & its application

The program was ended with a vote of thanks and lot of promises and hope for future.

Our two teams went for a National level Project competition at (Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) Pune which is operated by the NCRA-TIFR under the control of DAE, Govt. of India on   28th February 2018 and on 1st March 2018 .  Mr Ronak S & Mr Kaushik S were one team who’s topic was: “Weather Prediction and Easy Evacuation using Satellite Communication”. The other team was Mr Dhruv B & Mr Satish C & their topic was” Clairvoyant Raven:- Smart Drone For Wildfire Detection”. Both the teams were assisted by Prof Sushma K & Prof Deepali K from Mumbai to Pune. The first winners were Mr Ronak & Mr Kaushik & the runner up were Mr Dhruv B & Mr Satish C.
